Employee Spotlight: Getting to Know Koren

Employee Spotlight: Getting to Know Koren

Koren Rusciano | Chief Operating Officer July 9, 2026 Team Member Spotlights

“A Legacy of Purpose and Precision”

A 20-Year Journey of Growth and Impact

Koren’s path with the firm is nothing short of remarkable. Over the past 20 years, she has worn countless hats—supporting nearly every aspect of the business. From completing investment and insurance applications and scheduling meetings (initially under the alias “Sue Blessing”) to leading investment operations, human resources, and ultimately serving as Chief Operating Officer, she has been instrumental in shaping the firm we know today.

Reflecting on her career, Koren shares that her greatest honor has been building the firm alongside her husband, John, and serving clients together. What began as a shared vision grew into a labor of love rooted in helping families achieve financial security and peace of mind.

“I am very proud of what very early on became a husband-and-wife partnership. Koren’s humility won’t allow it so I will say it: this enterprise wouldn’t be half its size without her. Some of the most pivotal decisions elevating our trajectory, were made by Koren. She is a brilliant businesswoman.” – John Rusciano, Founder and Principal

A Foundation Beyond the Office

Well before starting her career at Grandview Square Financial, Koren dedicated ten years to being a stay-at-home mom. The patience, care, and selflessness she developed during that time continue to guide her professional life today.

Growing up in Plymouth, Minnesota with her twin brother and older sister, she experienced a family dynamic that nurtured connection, teamwork, and strong relationships from an early age. In her younger years, Koren was disciplined and active, competing as a speed skater and synchronized swimmer in high school, while also learning to play both the piano and the violin.

Today, she maintains that discipline through her commitment to personal fitness, training with a personal trainer two to three times per week. Last summer, she reached a personal milestone of riding 500 miles on her bike—an example of her determination and goal-oriented mindset.

At the core of who Koren is lies a work ethic and sense of pride instilled by her parents at a young age. As her father’s “little helper” on home improvement projects, she developed a love for hands-on work that continues today—whether tiling, flooring, painting, or woodworking—and she takes pride in supporting her children with their own projects, bringing the same attention to detail that defines her professional life.

Evolution, Resilience, and Perspective

Over the years, one of the most surprising elements of Koren’s journey has been the rapid evolution of both the industry and the firm—particularly advancements in technology and financial planning solutions.

Through it all, she has helped navigate some of the most challenging environments, including the 2008–2009 financial crisis and the COVID-19 pandemic. Her ability to persevere through uncertainty while staying focused on clients defines much of her legacy. When asked to describe the journey in one word, she doesn’t hesitate: “Awesome.”

The Heart Behind the Leadership

What Koren will miss most is the clear sense of purpose she found every day—serving clients and helping grow the firm with intention.

As she looks ahead to this next chapter, she’s excited to embrace new opportunities that reflect her passions outside the office. From volunteering and traveling with her family to playing more pickleball and refinishing furniture and tapping into her HGTV-inspired creativity, she’s eager to explore new ways to grow and contribute.

A Culture That Lasts

Koren’s impact extends far beyond operations—she has helped shape the culture and standards that define Grandview Square Financial today. The principles she hopes to leave behind are simple, yet powerful:

  • Attention to detail – “Measure twice, cut once”
  • Ownership – Take pride and fully own your role
  • Purpose-driven work – Recognizing the profound impact we have on the families we serve

A Message to Our Clients

As Koren shifts into her new role, her message to clients is one of reassurance and confidence:

  • Clients can expect to be in great hands with our team
  • Our continued commitment is to uphold the integrity of the firm
  • Our team truly cares about you and each other
  • We strive to exemplify what it means to be a fiduciary
  • We remain focused on serving our clients with authenticity and care

A Lasting Influence

Koren’s legacy is best captured not just in her accomplishments, but in the people she has impacted along the way.

“Koren has had a profound impact on my life… not just professionally, but as a person. The greatest lesson she has taught me is to always find the right answer, not just an answer. Her dedication to serving clients and going above and beyond for them is something I try to emulate every day.”
