“Generous, Loving, Vivacious”
This quarter, we are thrilled to feature Kate Moore in our Team Profile. If you’ve already met her, you know that “vivacious” is the perfect word to describe her energy. A self-described “people person,” Kate brings a unique blend of warmth and drive to our office, grounded in a philosophy of genuine connection.
A Journey of Reinvention and Caring
Kate’s path to our firm wasn’t a straight line, but a journey defined by resilience and a commitment to growth. Before joining us, she spent years in the beauty industry, wearing many hats: hair stylist, cosmetology school instructor, and recruiter.
“The segue was out of necessity,” Kate shares openly. “Becoming a single mom necessitated a career change that allowed me to grow financially and personally.”
While the industry has changed, Kate notes that the heart of her work remains exactly the same. “In all the roles I’ve had, what has been important to me is a genuine care for others,” she explains. She sees a strong parallel between her past and present: both require handling business professionally while also tending to “matters of the heart.”
The “Character-Molding” of Education
Kate brings a refreshing perspective on learning and professional development. She views education not just as skill acquisition, but as a “character-molding process.”
“No matter what you do in your education, it challenges you in your weaknesses, which can be a humbling experience,” she says. “You have to learn how to deal with the frustration of learning something new.”
This mindset was shaped by a pivotal mentor she had in beauty school—a teacher who “didn’t take sh*t from anyone” but cared deeply. “She taught me the balance of coming alongside someone and genuinely caring for them, while also pushing them out of their comfort zones,” Kate recalls. “I wanted to be her, for someone else.”
Why She Joined the Team
When Kate was first recruited, she admits she didn’t initially feel qualified on paper, but she was eager to get in front of the team as she was confident in her inherent traits. She was immediately drawn to the firm’s culture—specifically, the feeling of a “small family business where everyone was really invested in their role.”
What she values most about working here is the ability to bring her whole self to work. “People can be free to be a human being in this space,” she notes.
Life in Savage, MN: Mom, Athlete, and “Peopler”
Home for Kate is in Savage, where she lives with her two children: Brooklyn (12), a middle schooler who recently took up volleyball, and Drake (9), a 4th grader who is “heavily into basketball” and quite talented at it. A former high school competitive swimmer herself, Kate loves seeing her competitive spirit live on in her kids’ track and field events.
Outside of work and parenting, physical fitness is Kate’s “non-negotiable.”
“I feel my mental clarity excels when I am moving my body on a regular basis,” she says. You’ll often find her in the gym, hiking, biking, or playing basketball in the park with her kids.
When she isn’t working out, she’s likely socializing. “I like peopling,” she laughs. “I just enjoy time spent with people I care about, no matter what we’re doing.”
